Target Groups:
YPSA will serve to the survivors of children, women and men who are victim of Human Trafficking. They may be inside and /or outside of the shelter, labour trafficking, sex trafficking, x- border and internal trafficking.
Background:
Human Trafficking is a global problem that affects hundreds of thousands of people every year. As per TIP report 2010 Bangladesh is a source and transit country for men, women, and children subjected to trafficking in persons. In Bangladesh Human trafficking takes several forms and has many faces. Trafficking violates the human rights of its victims, damages lives, feeds corruption, exacts an economic toll on governments and taxpayers, and harms society at all levels. In recent years, there has been a significant increase in human trafficking in Bangladesh. Responding to human trafficking is an issue of human rights. Under the Palermo Convention YPSA is implementing ACT program from 2009 by the support of Winrock International & USAID at Cox’sbazar and Banderban District under Chittagong Division.
YPSA will take initiatives for responding to the basic needs of the survivors to serve through individualized and holistic case management both inside and outside of the shelter context.

Shelter Support for the Survivors |
YPSA-ACT Program has started the Shelter support for the Human Trafficking Survivors at Cox’sbazar sadar. Its address is SHANTA NILOY, Uttar Hazipara, Power House, Cox’sbazar sadar,Cox’sbazar. |
Rescued/release and Identification of Human trafficking survivors. |
YPSA-ACT Program has rescued/release and Identified 87 Human trafficking survivors from different area of Cox’sbazar and Banderban District. All types of Basic support are getting the survivors from the Shelter home. |
Organize Reintegration meetings with survivor’s families and community People. |
YPSA-ACT Program is organizing meeting with Survivors family and Community People in the working area. By this time 4 Meeting has organized. |
Legal aid support to survivors |
YPSA-ACT Program is providing legal support to survivors. Now 18 people are getting the legal support. |
Project orientation and review workshops |
To develop the staff ACT program are organizing Project orientation and review workshops |
Life skills/vocational workshops for in-shelter or outside |
YPSA-ACT program has organized 3 Life skills Training by this time. Total 42 survivors have participated in these training. |
Provide education through linkage with institutions of learning |
16 Indigenous Children (Trafficking Survivors) of Tangaziri village, Lama Upazilla under Banderban District has received Scholarship support to bear their education and other expense and they are now again enjoying study in different school in their community safely. As well as 12 Guardian of these children has received financial support to return their loan which they have token for the Children for Education Purpose. |
Vocational training and links to employers |
Total 14 survivors have received Vocational Training under YPSA-ACT program. 10 survivors have received vocational training on Cow rearing and Farm Management at Ukhiya and 4 survivors are taking Driving training at Cox’sbazar sadar. |
Baseline survey |
YPSA-ACT program has conducted a Baseline Survey on Human Trafficking situation at Cox’sbazar District. |
Meetings with law enforcement and leaders |
YPSA-ACT Program has organized 3 Meetings with law enforcement and leaders at Ukhiya Thana, Cox’sbzar Sadar and Teknaf. |
Helpline Service |
YPSA –ACT program has providing Helpline services to survivors. |
Future Plan:
YPSA-ACT Program wills extent at whole district of Chittagong Division and will organzie Press meetings and conferences on Human Trafficking issue. YPSA-ACT program will provide more Vocational start-up 'seed' support to survivors.
