International Youth Day 2007

Today's youth are tomorrow's worker, parents, active citizens and indeed leaders. Their number in worldwide (age 15-24 year) has reached 1.3 billion, the largest in the history. The large numbers of these youths are living in poor and developing nations, striving to be healthy, educated and active participants in their communities. Because of poverty, they are deprived of their basic needs and rights as well as can not contribute what they desired. But they can be our asset, if proper education and basic technical skill are being given in the right time. Recognizing youths as most potential resources in the world, the United Nations declared August 12, as International Youth Day to organize them in a platform throughout the world every year.

International Youth Day gives the world an opportunity to recognize the potential of youth, to celebrate their
achievements, and plan for ways to better engage young people to successfully take action for development. It presents a unique opportunity for all stakeholders to rally together to ensure that young people are included in global, national and local affairs and decision-making.This year the theme of International Youth Day 2007 is
"BE SEEN, BE HEARD: YOUTH PARTICIPATION FOR
DEVELOPMENT" declared by the United Nations.
