Mega rescue drill held in Chittagong

Training workshop on disaster preparedness and emergency management for the 180 community volunteers was successfully completed followed by a demonstration in Chittagong. YPSA,  CODEC and Bangladesh Fire Service and Civil Defense jointly organized a simulation at the Chittagong Outer Stadium on 16 December. “If the community people are aware and trained they will be the first responder during any kind of disaster. It will help community to reduce the vulnerability” Speakers said at the program. A.B.M Mohiuddin Chowdhury, Mayor, Chittagong City Corporation was present as the chief guest. Ms. Farah Kabir, Country Director, Actionaid Bangladesh, D. Sanjib Baruag, Professor, Tokyo Institute of Technology, Mr. Md Arifur Rahman, Chief Executive, YPSA, Mr. Kamal Sengupta, Deputy, Chief Executive, CODEC, Mr. Major Matiur Rahman and Director, Training, Fire Service and Civil Defense were the special guest. Volunteers were given certificate end of the drill.
