USA Delegation visited YPSA
The visiting delegation from USA in Chittagong visited YPSA on 30th January 2012. The team is headed by the Mayor Mr. Joseph M. CICERO, JR. Mayor, City of Lyndhurst. State of Ohio. During the visit in YPSA the US delegation met with the YPSA management and the physically challenged students of IRCD. Read more....
The next day, the delegation also visited YPSA’s activities in Sitakund. They attended a meeting with the Siatkund Upazilla Chiraman Abdulla Al Baker Bhuiyan, Sitkund Powrashava Mayor Nayek (Ret) Shafiul Alom, 5 UP Chairmen and Pworashava Councilor in the Upzilla parished. After the meeting visitors went to Golabari Government Primary School, Mowlabipara Village and talked with some beneficiaries. They also visited Radio Sagor Giri and YPSA’s Physiotherapy Center.
Representatives from USAID & Wirnrock International visited YPSA’s “Actions for Combating Trafficking in Persons” program in Chittagong. Ms. Habib Akter, Human Rights Advisor, USAID, Kazi Tahmina Haque, Financial Analyst, USAID, Sara Piazanno, Chief of Party, ACT Program, Ms. Dipta Rakshit, Program Manager, Survivors Care & support, ACT Program of Winrock International were present with the team.
Ms. Misti Mc Dowell, Country Director of Family Health International (FHI360), Dr. Simon Rasin, MD, MPH, PHD, Director, HIV/AIDS, Save The Children Bangladesh, Dr.Sukumar Sarker, PHN Office, USAID Bangladesh visited YPSA’s Modhumita Health Center for street based sex workers at Chittagong on 30 January, 2012. Among other Mr. Fazla kuda, IOM & Mr. Md. Omar Faruque from Save the Children Bangladesh accompanied team. They also attended a sharing meeting with YPSA team members and health center’s clients.
A team of Campaign for Tobacco Free Kids (CTFK) met with the Mayor of Chittagong City Corporation ,Alhj. Md. Monjurul Alam, at his residence on 29th January 2012 in Chittagong. TFK Financial Compliance Officer Ms. Bintou Camara, Program Officer -Ms. Anuradha Khanal, and Media and Advocacy Coordinator in Bangladesh Mr. Taifur Rahman were participating in the meeting. They also visited YPSA's Smoke Free project activities and met with YPSA's Smoke Free team and YPSA management.
YPSA organized a 3-day Life Skill Training Workshop at the Shelter Home during 21-23 January. 16 Trafficking Survivors received the training. Mr. Lt. (Rtd) Azizur Rahman, M&E specialist, ACT Program, Winrock international was present in the closing ceremony program. Counselor & Shelter Manager Mrs. Hosna ara Rekha, ANIRBAN leader Mr. Rafiqul Islam and Md. Sirajuddin Belal from YPSA facilitated the training workshop.
The Mayor of BrammanBaria Pouroshova committed to make smoke free environment by declaring smoke free pouroshova. The mayor was saying this in a training session, for the members of smoke free coalition, on 17th January 2012 in the Pouroshova auditorium. The mayor, Mr. Md. Helal Uddin was speaking as the chief guest of the session while several councilors, representatives from civil society, media, and community based organizations, govt. offices was participating in the training.
YPSA hosted a group of 19 students as the part of 5 days Service learning Project by America based organization World Savvy in partnership with Service for Professional Education and Enterprise Development (SPEED) and Scholestica. Climate change is a buzz words around the world, it quires a coordinated efforts from everyone around the world.
The Mayor of Khagrachori Pouroshova committed to prepare a smokefree guideline to ensure smoke Khagrachori and agreed to fix smokefree signage in all the public places of the pouroshova in a training session, for the members of smoke free coalition, on 31st December 2011 in Khagrachori Pouroshova auditorium. The mayor, Mr. Md. Rafikul Alam was speaking as the chief guest of the session while several councilors, representatives from civil society, media, and community based organizations, govt. offices was participating in the training. The participants emphasized on banning the advertisement of tobacco product and prepare smokefree awareness publications.
